Tax deals?

I'm missing the days of CompUSA when I would get a billion things for free with my tax software... anyway Amazon sent me a heads-up with their upcoming sales:

-January 24-30   Save at least 25% on H&R Block At Home

-January 31-Feb 6   Save at least 25% on TurboTax

-February 7-13   Save at least 25% on H&R Block At Home

-February 14-27 (2 weeks)   Save at least 25% on TurboTax

-March 21-27   Save at least 25% on H&R Block At Home

http://tinyurl.com/ygzlt2q

Personally, I'm a fan of ex-TaxCut H&R Block ever since I switched because TurboTax came with some wonderful malware a few years back. I just picked up the Deluxe (w/out state) for $20. And remember that payment is also deductible...

Love the Tee Shirt

This should be read and understood by all Americans

Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature,

It is now official you are ALL corrupt morons:

  • The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.
  • Social Securitywas established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
  • Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
  • War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.
  • Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.
  • Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.
  • The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars

AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARESYSTEM??

Folks, keep this circulating. It is very well stated. Maybe it will end up in the e-mails of some of our "duly elected' and their staff (they never read anything) will clue them in on how Americans feel.

Robot Chicken

We've been trying to catch up. I had noticed on the TiVo that the episode titles started to tell a story. ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Robot_Chicken_episodes#Season_4:_2008-2009

When listed in production (DVD) order, the episode titles of the first 10 episodes of Season 4 spell out a message:

  • Help Me
  • I'm Trapped
  • In a DVD Factory
  • They Took My Thumbs
  • Two Weeks Without Food
  • Tell My Mom
  • I Love Her
  • But Not In That Way
  • Love, Maurice
  • P.S. Yes, In That Way

The last 10 episodes follow a similar pattern with a new message referring back to the first one, starting with episodes 411:

  • Dear Consumer
  • We Are a Humble Factory
  • Maurice Was Caught
  • Unionizing Our Labor
  • President Hu Forbids It
  • Due to Constraints of Time and Budget
  • The Ramblings of Maurice
  • Cannot Be Erased, So Sorry
  • Please Do Not Notify Our Contractors
  • Especially the Animal Keith Crofford!

Fwd: Netflix rental by zipcode

Greg sent me this a while ago... finally looked at it. I think since then it has actually hit slashdot, etc. But Greg got it first. ;)

Anyway, near me it seems that there are only 1-2 netflix subscribers in 21077 (see Tropic Thunder) and 21765 (Bucket List). I'll let you draw your own conclusions about "Tyler Perry's ____" (there are two).

This is an amazing piece of data-mining. A top 100-ish national
rentals from netflix for 12 US cities, overlaid on a map.
DC is included, the pattern is very binary for much of it. 295(b/w
parkway) clearly divides many of these movies. A few other hotspots -
the very wealthy area around great falls, a bit of an inside/outside
the beltway, military bases  - but the 295 thing is amazing.

I do not know if you need to register with ny times or not, i am, or
if the link is deep enough, and the programing poor enough, to get
around any issue
