Sad that I was able to follow most of that paper too - I recognize those equations from some of my old classes. Also sad that nobody realized this before because it is pretty basic level QM; applying Lorentz corrections was half the class it seems. And GPS satellites (and your receivers) need to account for relativistic measurements all the time.
I also remember hearing about the Michelson-Morley experiments in the classes, but don't think I've seen that awesome paper title before: "On the relative motion of the earth and luminiferous ether."
